Outdoor Painters and Sketchers
Outdoor Painting Group
Someone will remain at the meeting site for 15 minutes to meet any late comers. For those who may be new to plein air sketching or painting, it’s advisable to be lightly equipped, have a firm base for your paper (be it sketchbook, board or portable easel), possibly a portable seat, and to have warm and waterproof clothing with you (and sometimes – who knows – even a sun hat!). Members use a variety of media. Pencil or pen sketching, with a small set of watercolour pans with conventional brushes or water brush “pens”, is a common and convenient style, but soft pastels, oils or acrylics can work well for some.
Membership of the Grosvenor Art Society isn’t a requirement – so bring a friend or come on your own. All are welcome.
Any queries get in touch.
A bright but cool morning did not inhibit the enthusiastic and artistic talents of this September meeting of the Outdoor Painters and Sketchers at the Canal Basin, Chester. There were plenty of old buildings, bridges, random structures and a few boats to draw and paint as can be seen from the attached image.
